Problem Overview

When you notice that the displayed count of uncategorized files in Eagle doesn't match the actual number of materials visible in the list, there are usually two common causes:

Using sync tools, but the library hasn't been fully synchronized to local storage
The library's cache data is inconsistent with the actual data

Solutions

Method 1: Check Sync Tool Configuration

This issue is more common when using sync tools. Eagle is a local application that requires the library to be completely saved locally to correctly read and display data. Please ensure:

The library has been fully synchronized to local storage
Not just placeholders are displayed, but actual files have been completely downloaded

Method 2: Repair Cache Data

If you've confirmed that sync tools are working properly, the issue might be with cache data. Please follow these steps:

Click the library icon, open the library menu, and select "Empty cache and reload"
If using sync tools, check and ensure all files have been completely synchronized and downloaded locally
Switch to "Uncategorized", hold Ctrl key and click the library name to bring up hidden repair tools
In the menu, select "Repair damaged metadata.json files" to fix corrupted metadata files
After repair is complete, hold Ctrl key again and click the library name
Select "Clear Invalid Content"
Click "Reload Library"
Hold Ctrl key again and click the library name, select "Clear Invalid Content"
Select "Fix Invalid Content" (materials without original files will be moved to "Trash")
Go to "Trash" to confirm the cleared materials, and after confirmation, right-click and select "Empty Trash" to complete the cleanup

Important Notes

This issue commonly occurs when using sync tools, so ensuring proper sync tool configuration is very important
Before performing repair operations, it's recommended to backup your library first
