Issue Overview

After upgrading to macOS Sequoia (15.0), you may notice that thumbnails for Affinity Designer, Publisher, Photo, and other file types are not displaying correctly in Eagle. This is due to significant changes in how macOS 15 handles file thumbnail previews.

Cause of the Problem

Our engineering team has identified that Apple removed support for the older Quick Look Generator plugins in macOS Sequoia and replaced them with new APIs and extensions. This change affects Eagle's ability to generate proper thumbnails for certain file types.

Solution

We've released an emergency fix in Eagle 4.0 build 4 to address these compatibility issues. We strongly recommend downloading the latest version from our official website to restore normal functionality.

Please note that due to macOS system changes, the current preview quality when double-clicking files might be lower than before. We're using alternative methods to work around these limitations while we monitor Apple's system updates.

Important Notes

This macOS Sequoia update affects many applications, including all Affinity products (Photo, Designer, etc.)
If certain file formats cannot be previewed with the spacebar in Finder, Eagle's preview functionality for those formats may also be temporarily affected
Full preview functionality in Eagle will be automatically restored once the respective software vendors update their applications to support the new macOS preview APIs
