Eagle 4.0 Build 18: Major Video Playback Upgrade — MOV Alpha Channel, ProRes & TS Support

Этот контент еще не переведен на Русский. Мы покажем вам английскую версию ниже.

Build 18 significantly improves Eagle's video format compatibility. Eagle can now play virtually all mainstream video formats and codecs, including previously unsupported MOV alpha channelApple ProRes, and TS formats.

This update also includes tag group descriptions, new shortcut options, download experience improvements, and various bug fixes.

🎬 Video Playback Upgrade

This is the highlight of Build 18. We've rebuilt the video playback engine, greatly expanding the range of video formats and codecs Eagle can handle.

Key New Formats

These are the most requested formats we've added support for:

  • MOV Alpha Channel — You can now preview MOV files with alpha transparency directly in Eagle, a big convenience for designers and motion graphics artists
  • Apple ProRes — A widely used codec in professional video production, now fully supported
  • TS (Transport Stream) — A common format for broadcasting, streaming, and screen recording, now plays without issues

Additional Formats

  • FLV / F4V — Flash video formats
  • MTS / M2TS — Common formats for Blu-ray discs and camcorders
  • MKV — Improved compatibility with the MKV container
  • 3GP — A common mobile phone recording format

Beyond format support, video codec compatibility has also improved significantly. Previously, Eagle could only handle a limited set of codecs such as H.264, H.265, AV1, VP8, and VP9. Now most mainstream video codecs are supported, so you should encounter far fewer cases of "video with no audio" or "unable to play."

macOS System Requirement: The enhanced video playback features require macOS 14.0 or later.

📋 Other Additions & Improvements

New Features

  • Tag Group Descriptions — Tag groups can now have description text, making it easy to document the purpose of each group. The description area uses a clean underline separator design that doesn't interfere with existing operations
  • Move Folder Shortcut — Added customizable shortcut key support for "Move Folder," configurable in Preferences. Supports moving multiple selected folders from the sidebar
  • JFIF Hover Preview — Added hover preview support for JFIF format images
  • Minor Version Update Notice — When a new minor version is available, Eagle will display a prompt when you check for updates, so you won't miss important fixes and improvements

Bug Fixes

  • HEIC Compatibility — Fixed an issue where some HEIC images failed to decode and display correctly
  • HEIC Image Rotation — Fixed HEIC images with EXIF rotation attributes rendering incorrectly or appearing completely black
  • Animated WebP Switching — Fixed an issue where switching to an animated WebP in detail mode caused the animation to restart from the beginning
  • YouTube / Vimeo Hover Preview — Fixed a crash when hover-previewing YouTube and Vimeo videos
  • Library Creation Parentheses Removed — Fixed an issue where parentheses in folder names were incorrectly removed when creating a library
  • Slideshow Shortcut Fix — Fixed the F5 shortcut key not correctly triggering slideshow mode
  • Tag Group Rename Behavior — Fixed the rename logic when pressing F2 on the tag group page: renaming the selected tag when one is selected, and renaming the group only when no tag is selected
  • Translation Fixes — Fixed translation inconsistencies in some language versions
